Radio

Kyle McCurry began his broadcasting career in 2004 as a volunteer co-host on WWCU-FM, the college radio station at Western Carolina University. His first show quickly drew attention from a nearby commercial station in Asheville, which picked up the program just months after its debut — a rare accomplishment for a student-led broadcast. After a brief commercial stint, McCurry returned to WWCU-FM in a paid capacity and later became the general manager. For more than three years, he recruited and led a 70-person volunteer team, comprising students, faculty and staff, while overseeing programming, community outreach and underwriting operations.

In 2008, McCurry joined WNGZ-FM in New York’s Finger Lakes region as program director and afternoon host. There, he managed station operations, coordinated live events, led marketing initiatives, and continued his acclaimed artist interview series.

Known as "The Interview Series" in North Carolina and "Classic Rock Insider" in New York, the program featured more than 80 legendary guests, including members of Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Bad Company, KISS, The Doors, Deep Purple, Chicago, Def Leppard, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doobie Brothers and The Temptations. The show was known for its thoughtful, story-driven format focused on career reflections and cultural impact and regularly spotlighted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, Grammy winners, producers, publicists and behind-the-scenes icons.
