Radio

Kyle McCurry began his broadcasting career in 2004 as a volunteer co-host on WWCU-FM, the college radio station at Western Carolina University. After briefly moving the show to a commercial station in Asheville, he returned to WWCU-FM in a paid role, eventually becoming general manager. Over more than three years, he recruited a 70-person volunteer staff of students, faculty and staff while managing programming, community outreach and underwriting sales.

In 2008, McCurry became program director and afternoon host at WNGZ-FM in New York’s Finger Lakes region. There, he oversaw marketing initiatives, coordinated live events and managed on-air operations while continuing to host his long-running interview series. Known as "The Interview Series" in North Carolina and "Classic Rock Insider" in New York, the show featured more than 75 legendary guests, including members of Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, KISS, The Doors, Deep Purple, Chicago, Def Leppard, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The series also spotlighted Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Grammy winners and behind-the-scenes pioneers, offering thoughtful, personal conversations that focused on storytelling, career reflections and cultural impact, not just promotion.
